Visual Rhetoric
Visual images have clout in our culture, and technology
enables people to create and transmit images at an incredible
pace.

Increasingly, documents are being regarded as more than words.
As soon as the reader encounters text or images, he/she immediately
starts to take in many kinds of visual information about it, from
its apparent size to details of type, color, layout, and illustrations.
As the reader continues to examine the text, he/she makes judgments
about design, meaning and importance.
Documents with visual components are rhetorical, contributing to effective
communication. |

important areas that the reader must consider as he/she approaches and
analyzes visual arguments:
