Twelve Questions to Ask as you Read

1. What information can I add to what the author is saying?

2. Do I agree with the author's views? Do I disagree? Why?

3. Do I approve of the author's ideas? Do I disapprove? Why?

4. Am I satisfied with what the author has to say on the topic? Why?

5. How do I feel or what do I believe about this topic?

6. What questions do I have for the author? What answers do I have for the     questions the author has raised?

7. Based on what the author has said, what predictions can I make?

8. What is an example that illustrates the author's point? What is a counter     example?

9. What personal experiences have I had with this topic or idea?

10. What previous associations have I had with this topic or idea?

11. What generalization, based on elements in common between the author's      ideas and my own, can I make?

12. What is an analogy to illustrate what the author is saying?
